Basilica of San Giovanni Battista

The Church of San Giovanni Battista stands proudly on the main square of Monterosso.
Rebuilt after the earthquake of 1693, it has a scenographic façade that captures the golden light of the Ibleans.
The interior, with three naves, houses a highly valuable artistic heritage including period paintings and wooden statues.
The dome and the bell tower are constant visual reference points for those going up the valley towards the village.
It is the center of the patronal festivities, moments in which the square is transformed into a theater of faith and colours.
A monument that perfectly embodies the architectural rebirth and fortitude of the mountain population.
