Piazza Libertà and Mother Church of San Nicolò
Piazza Libertà represents the very essence of Acate as a planned village, a large and regular space where the rigor of the Enlightenment meets the solemnity of faith. The Mother Church of San Nicolò di Bari overlooks this "living room" of light stone, built in the 18th century with a façade that blends late-Baroque harmony and neoclassical composure. Together with the Castle and the nearby Church of San Vincenzo, this complex defines the monumental structure of the city, acting as a stage for the main social events, from patronal celebrations to exhibitions linked to Cerasuolo wine. The interior of the Madre houses eighteenth-century paintings and marble altars, making this space a living archive of the history and devotion of the Acatese community.
