Santa Maria di Portosalvo
Scoglitti
The sacred and the profane meet at the port of Scoglitti. While the procession of boats plows through the waves carrying the Virgin on their shoulders, the young people compete in the ancient game of the maypole: a pole greased with fat suspended horizontally over the sea. A true celebration that smells of saltiness, popular competitive spirit and profound seafaring devotion.
